Module 08 – Building and Maintaining Relationships

A good partnership depends on having a positive, respectful relationship where people work together towards a common goal. A good relationship requires that individuals treat each other as they wish to be treated.

Relationships with parents can sometimes be complicated. Ideally, you will interact, discuss and encourage each other as partners in the healthy development of the children. As attached as you become to their children and they to you, you must remember that parents are the child’s primary caregivers.

A positive and mutually supportive relationship with the parents can enrich your life and theirs, but most importantly, it will enrich the lives of the children you care for.
